FGW HSTs:- The MTU Completion Empty FGW HSTs:- The MTU Completion

The final two FGW Valenta engined HSTs are ready, equipped with their new MTU engines. 43002 looks superb along with 43003 which insidently still holds it's 'Isambard Kingdom Brunel' nameplate. 43015 + 43034 are still yet to be re-entered into traffic but should do shortly. 43193 has been taken by road from Brush-Laira and will hopefully join service for the first time in 3 years! 43002+003 are due to be dragged from Loughborough-Landore by an Advenza loco on 6th March.
Hope this is of some interest to some people.

When first great western had MTU & valentas i bet it was hard sometimes to tell which is which? with GNER/NXEC it's easy as MTU are /2 and /3 we have just over half of our HST MTU

my opinion of mtu i like them yes i do! i used to hate them till last week i stood behind NXEC liveried 43300 going at 125mph from glasgow central-berwick-upon-tweed untill the day you stand behind an MTU at 125 and hear it scream and clag, then people can say there bad i think they are brilliant! yes they do clag and scream! Very Happy What a Face
