HST Breakdown!
So far, I've put this on BVE Railnetwork, BVE Routes and Trains and Heritage Railways. But the story starts at Wakefield Westgate station, from which I caught a GNER HST during the 90's. It was making all sorts of brake squeals as we approached the station, and eventually we stopped, seemingly short of the platform. An announcement then came which said we had to exit from Coach A because it was the only one that had made it onto the platform. So we all did, and looking back, I saw that they had restarted the HST (Paxman Valenta) and were now revving it trying to solve the problem. Then I went home and my memory is pretty blank after that.

Re: HST Breakdown!
sounds like low main air syndrome.
Revving the engine makes the compressor work harder.
